Take the candy cane in your hand and turn it upside down.
Notice that the candy forms a “J.” The “J” is a reminder of Jesus Christ. He left heaven’s glory over 2000 years ago. He was born in a lowly stable in Bethlehem, as the prophets had written many years before.
Now, turn the candy cane back upright, and you will see it now forms a shepherd’s crook.
The shepherd’s crook speaks of Jesus Christ, the “Good Shepherd.” He loves and cares for all who follow Him.Now, turn the candy cane back upright, and you will see it now forms a shepherd’s crook.
Next, look at the stripes. These stripes are reminders of what happened to Jesus Christ on your behalf. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ was wounded and died for our sins. The red striping speaks of Jesus’ blood which He shed when He died on a cross to pay the penalty (death) for your sins. He gave His life for your life, but God raised Him back to life. The white striping demonstrates how only Jesus can wash away our sins and make us white as snow.
We have all broken God’s Law (the Ten Commandments). Therefore, all of us deserve God’s punishment (an eternity in hell), but God wants every person rescued from this fate, and this is why Jesus Christ came into this world.
I encourage you to personally receive God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life by faith today. You can not accept these things from religion, any church, your sincerity, or because one is a good person. You only receive them by putting your complete trust in this same Jesus as your Savior.
If you have not done so, will you please turn to God?
Recognize what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross, ask God to save you, and put your complete trust in Him today.
